The Pastor's Wife - a poem by Chris Zachariou

when the world is pure and clean.
In the sleepy glow of sunrise
he looks with love at his young bride
and listens to her gentle breathing.

But he knows his work is to redeem
his soul and to save the souls of others.
He kisses her softly on the cheek
and every day like before, he goes out
to the world to do the work of God.

Night falls on London Town.
Hustlers, dancers, and musicians
and all who know the seedier side
of city life begin to drift to work.

Cordoba Nights - a poem by Chris Zachariou

A virgin bride fantasizing about a Moorish lover on before her wedding night – Poetry by the Cyprus Poet Chris Zachariou
wild black curls

A fierce wind scorches Cordoba
    tonight
lewd and shameful like a voracious lover.

Crawling in through doors ajar and open
    windows
it caresses all hungry lovers entwined
the tortured old and the restless young.

I do not fear you anymore - a poem by Chris Zachariou

A Poem About God: A portrayal of God's wrathful visage, evoking themes of defiance and liberation from divine oppression.
Divine Fury Unveiled

My love for The Son of Man and Christianity as a way of life is infinite, however, I find it impossible to believe in a metaphysical world.

This poem is my own personal view of God. Please do not continue reading if you are easily offended or intolerant of other peoples' views.

This poem is largely inspired by the novel 'The Last Temptation of Christ' by Nikos Kazantzakis.

This place is bleak.

There are no flowers

the land is scarred
and all the birds have fled.

A solitary burnt-out tree

with a broken branch
is struggling to survive
against disease and darkness.

I remember your pain when your lover left
and your when another came to stay.

He was famous, a hero and a legend
with a crown of laurels on his head.
He filled your world with brave dreams
and dazzled you with his light.

Sad echoes of my life - a poem by Chris Zachariou

A lonely man on a park bench, lost in thought amidst autumn leaves. From the series “Melancholy Poems”.
A Lonely Man on a Park Bench

You have now taken over.

You are with me every minute
of my life and it all seems so real—
a kindness of time standing still.
You are everywhere I look, always
with white lilies in your hands.
